Packaging Design | Fall 2020
Process
The initial development of Java Sippin started with making the logo to give a face to the name. Using personas and a semantics scale helped to narrow down the feeling that was appropriate to use in the packaging and brand design. Java Sippin went through many logo sketches and revisions before landing on the current logo. In fact, there was a complete rebrand after the packaging design course was finished. This was a step that was needed
after having further knowledge and experience from other
graphic design courses.
FIRST ITERATION
SECOND ITERATION
Approach
The primary focus was creating a brand that is modern, inviting, and informs customers on the importance of sustainable packaging. Java Sippin’s target audience is eco-friendly activists, along with people in their late teens and older. This is a large scope due to the importance of the company to inform the public on the benefits of being sustainable. To the left is a persona created for a hypothetical customer.
THIRD ITERATION
CURRENT LOGO
At first the brand was using a blue and grey color scheme, but it felt that there needed more excitement. The colors changed to an orange and brown theme to make the brand pop with spirit. Java Sippin uses café related doodles to keep a fun and light feeling to the brand. This is used on each packaging and other branding elements to keep a system going. This also keeps the eye moving on the packaging to bring customers into the sustainability facts on each product. The goal was to use minimal ink on the packaging to maintain an image of sustainability.
